We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Mechanical Engineer to join our Adelaide-based Rentals team. This is a dynamic role where engineering meets operations — ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving and working closely with manufacturing, procurement, commissioning and site teams.
About the Role
As a MechanicalEngineer, you will coordinate and manage all facets of our rental equipment lifecycle. Your core focus will be ensuring that assets within the Adelaide Hub fleet are prepared, deployed, maintained and optimised to achieve maximum utilisation and performance.
You’ll work across design, fabrication, procurement, commissioning and customer interface activities — playing a critical role in ensuring successful rental project delivery from mobilisation through to demobilisation.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
Engineering & Asset Management
Conduct P&ID walkdowns and update drawings (AutoCAD)
Maintain accurate engineering documentation (P&IDs, SLDs, schematics, drawing packs)
Develop maintenance procedures and manage asset records
Perform MTO (Material Take Off) activities from P&IDs
Ensure rental yard layouts are maintained and updated (AutoCAD)
Respond to equipment breakdowns and coordinate repairs
Project Mobilisation & Delivery
Support tenders and provide technical input to Sales & Proposals
Assist with project planning, schedules and budgets
Coordinate fabrication, FAT, logistics and site installation
Manage mobilisation and demobilisation activities
Provide technical support to Operations and site teams
Ensure compliance with design specifications, standards and contract requirements
Fabrication & Procurement Support
Work hands-on with fabrication teams, guiding and supporting as needed
Liaise with vendors and procurement to source compliant materials
Verify materials and equipment prior to installation
Identify cost-saving and lean manufacturing initiatives
Budget & Commercial Awareness
Monitor project costs and assist with forecasting
Identify risks to budget and implement corrective actions
Support reporting requirements for Rentals projects
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
Support the Global Asset Manager – Rentals
Contribute to innovation and continuous improvement initiatives
Champion QHSE standards across all activities
About You
You are an organised and solutions-focused Mechanical Engineer who enjoys balancing technical detail with operational coordination.
Essential:
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical preferred; Electrical or Chemical considered)
Minimum 2 years’ experience in mechanical/process/manufacturing environments
Would suit a recently completed Graduate.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and construction practices
Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality standards
Desirable:
Experience in water treatment
Trade qualification (mechanical, electrical or chemical)
Exposure to asset management systems (e.g MEX)
